Being the neurotic reader that I am, I rarely read book blurbs on the back. Then this book came along, manifesting a fangirl life that is sweet and true, it was too hard to pass it up. Along with the beautiful cover, it was like reading a life in front of you.

But as her online life succeeds beyond her wildest dreams, Liv is forced to balance that with the pressures of school, her mother’s disapproval, and her (mostly nonexistent and entirely traumatic) romantic life. A trip to DragonCon with Xander might be exactly what she needs to figure out what she really wants.

This book does have All The Feels! To be honest, I was not entirely sure what to feel about Liv when I first started reading the book. I also got to the point where I am only reading the book because of Zander. But fear not, my fellow book nerds. I just thought that Liv’s reaction where she reaches the downlow was quite exaggerated.

The book was all about trying to balance things out. The story can be compared to an emotional rollercoaster of feels for Liv, because she just wants to contribute to her beloved fandom and get her mother’s approval, pass college, and at least get a love life (aren’t we all? Nope. Just me.) The book does have all the feels and it can make you feel the feels. Because it makes you feel for the characters, make you feel what you feel about your respective dominant fandoms, and makes you feel like it’s you. (Feeeels.)

But in key terms of fangirling, I would say thay Liv also possess the key qualities of a modern-day fangirl. I have never felt so represented. Especially when she started video editing, and started talking about terms about rendering and all that stuff. I could not help but jump and say, “That is so me!” Because Liv is an uber-fangirl. Her fandom is her life. Which is what essentially brought people together. Like if you mash her and Cath from Fangirl, you get one awesome explosion of fangirl representation. I also love her friendship with Xander. He was this good anchor (and actor) who would do anything for Liv. Two thumbs up for Xander, because he’s such a dapper gentleman. Hats off to him, and his steampunk-ish self.

I don’t want to spoil anything about Dragon Con but it is legit. That is what con feels like. Not only was I having fun reading, but someone maximized Liv’s experience. It was an amazing conclusion.

In all of the aspects, it was the overall thought of the book that won me over. Not only was it sweet, but it recreated this atmosphere of people on social media coming together to share their love for a fandom. Highly recommended to read, if you’re a video type of fangirl. And if you want to know what it feels like to be in a convention. Or if you just want to get a sneak peak of what goes on inside a fangirl’s head. Perhaps you may never know, but at least you get a glimpse of it in the book. Just get ready to have all the feels.
