Fanboy Book Club: An Introduction

Card

Hello everyone! My name is Bianca and I am your first formal host for the month of February in the Fanboy Book Club. I am so excited to finally launch this baby that was conceptualized on my humble little laptop, one misty Monday morning. I am so glad that a lot of people were enthusiastic about this, and I owe you all guys my biggest thanks.

To formally launch this book club, the other members and I are tasked to write introductions. This is so as to formally launch the club to everyone. Off we go!

Tell us a little bit about yourself.

I’m Bianca and I love every fandom in the universe. I made this book club because I can only tolerate books with male leads. I hope I could find other people who feel the same. ❤

How did you come up with your blog name?

It just came to me one day, I guess? I was actually watching an introduction episode of the Big Brother series and thought of a unique monicker if I ever got in. So I ended up with The Ultimate Fangirl. I like too many things that I don’t know how I still have a life of my own. But it’s one of those days where you just cannot choose just one fandom to fit in your tumblr introduction page.

Now for the fun part:

Who is your favorite male character?

My favorite male character is Leonard Peacock from Forgive Me, Leonard Peacock by Matthew Quick. Why?

He felt so real. I could compare it to the time where I couldn’t grasp a certain thing, and he shared the same journey with me. At the same time, he introduced me to Humphrey Bogart. Who knew that all of those actors back in the 40’s were all so badass and gorgeous at the same time?

Who are your book husbands/book boyfriends?

Let’s see…

There’s Kenji Kishimoto from The Shatter Me series by Tahereh Mafi. He kept me going on reading the series <3. Then there’s this really obscure character in The Hunger Games whose name is Darius. And there’s also the matter of Oliver from Althea and Oliver.

Book with a male lead that really stuck to your heart?

You guys are probably going to say, “OKAY WE GET IT. YOU LIKE HIM SO MUCH.” Because my answer will always be The Perks of Being A Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky. I just don’t have any boundaries. It’s my most prized possession and my favorite reread. What could I ask for more?

Another host of this monthly book club is Nicka at Read by Nicka! I am so thrilled into co-handling this book club with her, along with the three other ladies: MC, Trisha and Maan!

Here are Nicka’s answers to my questions:

Tell us a little bit about yourself.
Hey I’m Nicka! I love cats and of course books, I also love to travel and take photos of beautiful sceneries. I’m a college student and I’m taking up Financial Management and I’m going to graduate next year WOHOO!! I’m also a movie buff, I always watch new movies every month.
How did you come up with your blog name?
I don’t really have a significant meaning behind it, I just thought why don’t I put a blog name as if I read all of the books in the world. “Readbynicka” that wasn’t a very clear statement 😂
Who is your favorite male character?
Percy Jackson & Harry Potter! Both are great but Percy is my favorite out of the two because he’s so funny and sassy.
I’m giving you the freedom here. Who are your book husbands/book boyfriends?
NOAH SHAW!!!! Christian Grey(his romantic side only), Jude Grayson, Etienne St. Clair and Nate Peters.
Book with a male lead that really stuck to your heart?
Harry Potter will always be in my heart.

Hello wonderful people! This is the first formal post for The Fanboy Book Club, a book club that I have made out of sheer boredom and love for books that feature male leads. If you don’t know what this uber-cool book club is,

Of course, a fangirl cannot do this alone. So I asked for help and the sweetest people offered me a hand in co-handling this club.  I am glad to announce that the ladies who will be running this club with me are:

Stay tuned because we will be switching on hosting every month. So make sure to follow their blogs to see on who I shall pass the baton to next.

And for the book of the month of February, we decided that to start simple. Who else has pioneered strong male and female leads alike? Who pulled a lot of heartstrings and entered our hearts while we were kids? Whose book that features a male lead creates nostalgia and wonderful magical feelings? That’s right. It’s the one and only J.K. Rowling. And we are going to read the book that started it all.
